Department of Energy and Climate Change
Customer
The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) was established from parts of Defra and BERR, two other Government departments. Although transactional corporate services were originally delivered separately by the original departments, the client needed help to stabilise and improve these arrangements after the merger.
Solution
We analysed the potential options for meeting DECC’s shared service needs. We then evaluated each of these against strategic fit, ease of implementation, impact on staff and other agreed criteria. In addition to identifying the best way forward, Methods recommended an outline plan for implementation.
Result
Methods helped to define the strategic options for the transformed service, determining the optimal delivery model. Having previously developed similar shared service strategies for clients such as the Department for Work and Pensions, we brought considerable knowledge to the project and proposed the most appropriate solution.
Statement
We brought considerable knowledge to the project having previously developed a shared services strategy for DWP.
