Small Abattoir Grant Fund – Project Management Support
In February 2023, Minister Spencer announced a capital grant Fund for smaller abattoirs in England, promoting productivity, technology adoption, animal welfare, and product value. The Fund's aim was to sustain a productive abattoir sector, support local produce availability, and boost rural economies.
Defra’s Red Meat and Dairy team faced the challenge of delivering the scheme within a tight timeframe. Lacking project management experience, Methods were engaged to establish a Governance Framework, ensuring effective delivery and project quality.
Knowledge transfer enhanced the Policy Team’s project management understanding, introducing meeting discipline and artifact templates. Additionally, Methods provided a PMO Handbook, collateral, and support for improved future initiative delivery planning.
